Starting New Christians off on the right foot – right away!
Don’t let them become statistics!
The latest information says that 85% of people who make a profession of faith are not in any church as little as three months later! That's because we don't follow up new Christians with proper training and personal care.
"What Now God" is the tool that provides the much-needed training and followup.
A new Christian is already in a precarious position. He or she is both excited and scared. “Did I make the right decision?” “What are these new emotions I feel?” “Have I just been sucked into a cult?" "What do I do next?"
Get them building the right foundation right away!
Churches have traditionally not done well when it comes to nurturing and informing new Christians. Many times they are left alone to learn for themselves. When they have questions, they don’t know who to ask, or sometimes even what to ask.
“What Now, God?” helps the new believer through the initial stages of conversion. It examines the emotions faced by new converts, and explains exactly what has happened in the process of giving their lives to Christ. The book encourages new Christians to begin the journey of spiritual growth, immediately and suggests ways they can do that.
It takes them through the first steps of a Christian lifestyle, points out the importance of daily devotional time and Bible reading, and offers suggested Bible verses to memorize. The book encourages the new Christian to become baptized, and explains why this is an important step of obedience.
“What Now, God?” also explains the importance of finding a good church. It highlights the importance of finding areas to serve and participate in church activities, discusses developing good Christian friends, and suggests certain guidelines for making new friends. It also talks about how to deal with non-Christian friends.
Here are other important issues discussed:
The process of confession and repentance Salvation by grace, forgiveness, and adoption The relationship God wants us to have with Him Conviction of the Holy Spirit How God increases our faith. Our place in the universe. The need to resist temptation The power and authority of the believer And much, much more….
Here’s what people are saying about “What Now, God?”
"John Blake has presented a clear and concise introduction to Christianity. This book would be an excellent resource for those just beginning their journey with God. I also think church youth groups would profit much from this simple study of what it means to be saved. If you're an evangelist, here's the tool you've been looking for! Read it! Live it! Give it away!"
Peter J. Iliyn YWAM North American Director
"John Blake has done a masterful job at putting the Christian life within reach of every new believer. John's book "What Now, God?" brings practical application to spiritual concepts and is a valuable tool for new believers. The simplicity of his presentation helps the new Christian put Biblical principles into "shoe leather". This book is a must for new Christians and is a vital resource for pastors and leaders in their discipleship strategies."
Tom Ferguson, D.D. Foursquare Northwest District Supervisor
"Reading this practical guidebook, you will become more familiar with a God who not only invites us to know Him, but One who goes to such extraordinary lengths to reveal Himself. With precise and vivid strokes God is explained as the only one who can satisfy our deepest desires. As you read these pages and follow through with the exercises you will learn to cultivate that inner place where God wants to reign as Lord over every dimension of your life. I’m especially thankful that the book is so Christ-centered, therefore grace-centered."
Dr. R. Allan Dunbar President, Puget Sound Christian College Billy Graham Evangelism Association
Wonderful read. You have written a clear, kind, encouraging guide for people who are starting out on this walk of faith. I would definitely give it to people who have recently begun to follow Jesus. I particularly like the sections on the value of finding a loving, encouraging family of believers where we can all find the support we need as we try to figure out how to follow Jesus in these confusing times.
